Street of Dreams

Oh boy, last week was a bit hectic. Never have I been out three days in a row, and that was probably the last time as well. But it was fun, it was a walk down memory lane featuring people I've learned to know during my five years here. It was also a regression of some kind since I began with my newest acquaintance in Sociology, onward to those I meet in the project management course back in 2009 (with one person I already know from 2006) and lastly friends I studied together with for four years and some of their friends. A wonderful end to a five year era filled with good friends.

So what am I doing this week? Just finished a paper for the sociology course... I would probably have been finished last week, but as you know, I partied away that. Having written essays on d-level it feels nice just to rush past most parts since it's in the wrist. So now I wait for my opponent to send her paper and it's on. 11 pages max isn't much to worry about and I got five days in front of me so this shall be no problem... if I don't get some invitations to some parties, but that's kinda unlikely. Enjoy the summer that's soon upon us.

Phoenix Rising

Blog post Nr 301... maybe I should have waited with Nr 300 as I now actually have interesting things to talk about. And what may this be? PARTY TIME! After missing most of the freshman weeks I decided to make the last one the best. And boy, it was AWESOME. Donning the 4 year old white (it was at least white when I got it) overall I haven't used for maybe a year with the red t-shirt. The armor of the political scientist. Rising from the grey ashes of boredom I awakened as a burning phoenix riding forward on my... orange steed (a bus). Like a saviour I appeared before the freshmen with the knowledge of 4 years of studies and experiences of former days with SVIK. Giving my services of more manpower to the third group I was back where I belonged when I was a freshman. Just the aura that emitted from me pushed us forward so that our group one the first competition and I stepped aside, but the victories continued (or that's how I will look at it).

Onward into the town core like a raging river hunting points to push the third group up to the top. After the time has run out it was time to recuperate before the dinner. The old guard, we who have been members of SVIk more than a year, joined forces to make sure that we all had the same level. We started to transform into the four riders of the apocalypse bringing the message that this will be the hour our final ride starts. Then we start the ride... and one of the others just disappears. He runs in and say it times to move. I and another jumps at the call to arms while the last take some time before leaving. We get to the door... and he's gone. Disappeared into thin air. What the Hell? Ever heard of the Bro Code dude? Well, we found him at least at the place we're going with the lame excuse that we weren't fast enough. I call bulls**t. Anyway, this would probably be just a parentheses in the quest toward the dinner if for not the fact that I actually stood for the music. A shame that I haven't updated it since 2007 or something.

Ahh, the Dinner. A pleasant evening with food and some drinks. Sitting besides some old friends and a lot of unknown woman. Too summarize the rest of the evening it was a lot of lip gloss, winning some chocolate, giving a girl a piggyback ride (the result for those who don't know was face to the asphalt, I never was that strong), muddy freshman wine, a trip into town and back, a cigaret and walking in the rain. And then we have today. Yeah, bed ridden till ca 16:00, exceptions when I hugged the toilet turning the stomach inside out. If it was the cigaret, the freshman wine or the other alcohol I leave unsaid. Well worth it!

Raiders of Political Science

I remembered one thing from last week I didn't mention and that was the dinner with the faculty of political science. The dinner itself was nice with me and 4 others from my class and 7 C-students and then 3 teachers and the administrative head of it. Really good, but the funny stuff is the things that occurred before the dinner. We thought we had it planned in my class, no presents, we've been busy trying to finish the essay and then read 250 pages of academic text. Sad, but we have been pushed very hard the last days. So we had that consensus among us, but the same day one of us get a phone call from the C-students that had decided on flowers (we were told). That wouldn't do for us then as we can't be worse then the C-students. So we counter with 4 chocolate boxes that I had to buy and then wrap in silver paper.

Is it just me our didn't that feel like a metaphor for an arms race? We thought we had them by the hooks with chocolate (honestly, who could beat that?), but they didn't stop there, no. They had to get them a white painting with there signatures on. Those tricky bastards! Didn't expect that did we? No, they took us unprepared for that and we weren't able to counter that,so hopefully the more personal and quick rush of chocolate made a better impression. At least on the teachers as it happened that during our "graduation" party this saturday we raided the administrators chocolate box (her daughter studied with us and we were at their apartment). Really good chocolate I tell you. Together with the snack and birthday cake we had. And we didn't break the apartment although a glass was shattered but it wasn't me

Final point of today was that it seems like my talk about chocolate, cakes and whatnot has garnished me the reputation as a distributor of quality seals of approval on such things by my friends as she who made the cake specially asked me what I thought of it. And I loved it.

Back In Black II

It's been a while, but that's due to me finishing of the last things in school. So yeah, this is an actually political scientist with a degree that's writing this. So the blog has been on a hiatus during the week as I had to read thru a little more then 250 pages of scientific material to the final seminars, that is 5 essays. 1 of them I had to read extra carefully as that was my primary "opponent". Not speaking about rereading my own essay again so that I could defend it. Most of this I did on Thursday as all most of my friends had their essays on that day and it ended with my defense speech. Went pretty well and it passed so all I need to do is polish it to get rid of certain spelling errors and clarify some passages. Nothing to worry about, unfortunately I had to do one essay the next day, the final essay of Friday. So I was last man out.

Wasn't that bad, lucky enough I had all morning to prepare and my major points the supervisor of the seminar agreed on them so that was a relief. Then it was party time. Celebrating our coronations to D-level Political scientist together with our friends that left us last year and other (okay, one) close friends. All in all 12 political scientist discussing everything from the global level down toward the daily life around us under the influence of some "artificial enhancers" (yes, alcohol). From 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. and you can say I'm kinda beat and tired today, sleeping to 10 messing up my day rhythm.

Waking up to a very boring saturday, with a grey sky filled with rain clouds ready to unleash its content on us and nothing on TV, doesn't help that I don't feel to put in a movie or game as the picture is totally screwed up. Really need to fix that. At least school is over for now... until Monday when the summer course starts, yes, I must be really ill. If it is any comfort E3 starts on Tuesday and hopefully something will come out about Golden Sun DS (aha, I got you there).

Another this I noticed is that Iron Maiden is releasing their new album in August, 4 years since the last. Funny about that is that I started my University studies that year and bought that album during the first weeks. So now it feel like a circle is completed. Oh, and I changed the blog a bit, the other gave such an unprofessional impression... and black is always cool!

Walpurgis Night 2010

Awaiting the live debate between the candidates in the British election on the BBC. Labour, Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives. Really, there is no wonder that I favor the Liberals. They are, well, liberals. Of course I didn't know about them until the European Parliament and I could check out other parties that were similar to my own view. No surprise, the Liberal Democrats. I guess it's because my very centric views on politics that responds in these liberal parties. Not that I mind, they have very good politics. Mostly Pro-EU and EMU, social liberal beliefs but not too keen on high taxes. Then it differs country to country. The reason I support the liberals in Sweden, besides those other political areas, is there belief that we need nuclear power to be able to maintain our welfare and keep the last industrial jobs we have. The british liberals don't approve of nuclear power. Why I don't know, it's their decision.

Anyway, tomorrow is Walpurgis Night. A traditional student and others party day with bonfires lighting up the dark night and scaring away all evils and celebrate the coming of Spring. Then the day after it's International Workers' Day. The day when the labour unions screams their cry for justice they have done for the last 100 years and had their political allies in government for 70 of those. You think they learned at this moment, but no, they still support the same party whatever they say and do. Well, at the moment at the least as the people at these demonstrations usually have a higher age then most people so lets see how they look in a 40 year time. Younger people tend to be home recovering from a self-imposed illness as it is a red day aka a holiday. The labour unions should have thought on that before placing there demonstrations on red days. I will probably not wright anything on these days, just a heads up. Celebrate modesty and avoid falling in the fires.
