I'm Alone

So it's done. My essay has been opposed or whatever you call it and I've opposed someones else essay. No problems there. Unfortunately it was a kinda sad break-up now cause this was the last time together in school with some of my friends I've know for 3 years. Next semester most of them are in Stockholm with only me from '06 being left in Karlstad at the political scientist program. Probably (I hope at least) we will see each others again afterwards (the world isn't that big and Sweden is even smaller). Still, it leaves a bitter sweet taste afterwards to see everyone just disappear. Of course some are back in Spring '10, but then it's definitely over after that.

On the political front we have that the former party leader Alf Svensson was able to snatch KD:s only seat in the European Parliament from the first name Ella Bohlin. Though I would never vote for a Christian right-wing party (mostly out of the belief that you should never mix religion and politics) but I'm happy that they choose Alf as even I like him. Especially compared to Ella who seems to be a Creationist and that is enough to complain about her, then the party even tried to hide that up with some good-looks and as well try to bribe their moral code upon the people. Her biggest thing was that from the EU, we should lower the amount of Alcohol allowed to bring across borders. First, it's only a problem in Sweden as it is damn high here (although I accept it as it serve to give us a better health, humans are stupid you now), secondly (even though it sounds like it contradict my former statement), what gives them a right to put up bans on things? The contradiction is in fact that I gladly accept the government, but not from a religious party. What's the difference? A government can be proven wrong while religious groups have this sick attitude that they are untouchable with words from god (who was in fact written by man, except the Qur'an according to tradition, but you get skeptical that one person disappears in the desert for some days and then comes back and write down something he was thought from an angel).

Second political news are the fact that the Swedish government finally abolished the forced sign up to the student union and the fee that was connected to that. Also the fee wasn't national, but you had to pay every student union you signed up in at every University. The money then was used to finance the Unions activities that no one else than the union itself knows what they do. The most bizarre thing is that when this was announced the Unions (on their own) claimed that the new system was awful due to that they believed NO ONE was going to pay this fee. If that doesn't show a disconnection from reality I don't know. They know the students will leave them due to no one knows what they do and they claim they lose their privilege. Somehow they are not very subtle that they lost the trust with the students and now need to earn it. It's fun to see the Tower of Babel fall out of hubris that is the one greatest weakness of mankind.

Also, out of boredom and no Golden Sun monologue to use I was walking the wiki walk I found myself reading about the Malibu Surfer Problem. The problem is that with social welfare some people could be getting social insurance money and do nothing as the state pay for it. A common problem so you need to keep the level of money high enough so that they can survive every day life, but so low that they are willing to look for a job and begin pay taxes. So, mostly I see a benefit in the system but the problem is serious and some Americans (nothing against you) claim that the system is worthless and only creates such persons, but a smart writer then put up that the country with most Malibu Surfers is USA and mentioned Paris Hilton as one (she doesn't even deserve a link). That's humor on a high level.
